Drawing the head

I DID use photoshop for the this since it's easier to multiply layers and have one consistent piece through out. But the basics of traditional pencil still apply.

I will have tutorials in the future for the eyes, mouth, nose, and hair. But for now, I'm going on the assumption that you DO have some basic knowledge of making those. This tutorial is here to help you put them together to form the face. Just a straight on face as in a portrait. We'll get into the different directions later. For now, this is 101.

Oh and in #12, when I say, "darks are darks and lights are lights" I mean, don't be afraid to allow for some contrast. Specially in dramatic lighting. NOT ALL lighting will allow this of course, but as a beginner it's great to get a "feel" for the form of the face by playing with shadows and light. Feel free to experiment.
